Medical Profile:
John H. Miller,
M.D.
|
Dr.
John H. Miller, my hero! Actually, I have a lot of
heroes, but Dr. Miller is right there at the top of my
list. If you ever need… or just plain want… a plastic
surgeon, he is the one for you. I first met Dr. Miller
in 2000 when I went in to see him for removal of a skin
cancer. You see, I’m one of those crazy people who baked
in the sun years ago, before the age of sun block. Not
only that, prior to baking, my friends and I slathered
baby oil mixed with iodine all over us, just to get that
wonderful tan we so loved. Come on sun… bake me! I’ve
been paying for that mistake since 1989 and for the last
seven plus years, Dr. Miller has been my partner in
dealing with the malignancies and other surgeries I’ve
had.
Most of the
“spots” I’ve had pop up since 1989 were not malignant,
but when that first malignant one showed up in 2000, my
dermatologist recommended that a plastic surgeon operate
because it would leave less of a scar than other methods
of removing it. Enter, Dr. John Miller, and I have to
tell you, he is the greatest! Not only does he really
care about his patients, he is excellent at what he
does. I won’t go into all the gory details of my many
surgeries, but I will tell you that Dr. Miller has
operated on me many, many times and I now feel like he,
his lovely wife, Carolyn, and their precious son, John
Michael, are family.
Yes, I’ve
met the whole family and all of the office family as
well. Carolyn Miller is a Registered Nurse and many
times assists Dr. Miller in surgery and at the office.
She’s my hero, too, and they have really taken care of
me. John Michael came to see me with his mom and dad
when I was recuperating at home from a rather major
surgery. How many doctors and nurses will come to your
home when you absolutely cannot get to the office? No
one I know of besides Dr. Miller. I must also mention
Dr. Miller’s very professional, very caring and very
friendly staff. I’ve had to see them all a lot, but from
the very beginning they have made every effort to make
me comfortable, feel at ease and welcome, as well as
confident that I was in the right place.
When
Dr. Miller walks in the room with that warm, friendly
smile (Did I tell you how handsome he is?) and sincere
concern for YOU, you are instantly at ease. He takes all
the time he needs with you... and all the time you need
with him…none of this rush in, rush out and leave your
money at the front desk business! He is there to help
you and does so with the care and consideration you
deserve.
A native of
Gulfport, John H. Miller, MD graduated from Mississippi
State University with a BS degree in Biochemistry. This
was followed by a degree from the University of
Mississippi Medical School in Jackson in 1990.
Dr. Miller
continued his medical education with a general surgery
residency in Washington D.C. This was followed by a
three-year residency in Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch in
Galveston, Texas. His training included cosmetic and
reconstructive surgery as well as pediatric burn
reconstruction at Shriners Burn Institute in Galveston.
He also trained at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston,
TX for breast and head and neck reconstruction.
Additional time in cosmetic surgery was spent with
Doctors Baker, Stuzin and Baker at the Baker Clinic in
Miami, Fla.
Following
his residency, Dr. Miller entered a hand and
microsurgery fellowship at the Christine M. Kleinert
Institute for hand and microsurgery at Louisville,
Kentucky. For three years he was the Assistant Professor
of Surgery (Plastics) at the University of Texas at
Galveston and at Shriners Hospital in Galveston.
Dr. Miller
is board certified by the American Board of Plastic
Surgery and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification
in Surgery of the Hand. He is a member of the American
Society of
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Medical
Association, Kleinert Hand Society, Blocker-Lewis
Society and Plastic Surgery Research Council.
He offers a
very broad spectrum of services to meet your specific
needs, from any type of cosmetic surgery, to
reconstructive surgery and hand surgery. If you need
plastic surgery or if you just want a particular plastic
surgery or treatment, Dr. Miller can help you. With two
offices to serve you, one in Gulfport and one in Biloxi,
you may choose the best location for you.
I retired to
Mobile, AL after Katrina blasted the Mississippi coast
in 2005. I know there are good Plastic Surgeons here in
Mobile, but when I need anything done by a Plastic
Surgeon, I head right back to Gulfport or Biloxi. You
see, I am hooked on Dr. Miller because I know without a
doubt that he’ll take the best of care of me. When I
decide I might need just “a little neck lift” or
something of the sort, I’ll be seeing Dr. Miller. I
trust him explicitly and will go with whatever he thinks
is best for me. I know he will do the right thing for me
and will tell me what I need to hear, not what I want to
hear. Dr. Miller is a perfectionist and he is also more
on the conservative side. In other words, should you
desire to have a face lift, you won’t come out of it
looking like someone else...unless that’s what you want!
Don’t wait!
If you’re considering plastic surgery, contact Dr.
Miller’s office now at 228-865-7299 for a free
consultation. He’ll tell it like it is and do the best
for you. You just need to show up! I KNOW because he’s
been doing his best for me for over seven years.
