Custom
Window Treatments can transform your home

In this issue I would like to touch on Custom Window Treatments. Window Treatments are very complex. One has to choose the right application for each individual window and space. Treatments come in wide varieties such as “hard treatments” and “soft treatments”. Wood Blinds, Shutters, Faux Wood Blinds, Mini Blinds and Panel Track to name a few, are considered hard treatments. Roman Fabric Shades, Natural Shades, Top Treatments and Draperies and Curtains are considered Soft treatments. The difference between draperies and curtains is that draperies in general are fully lined, curtains are not; therefore the front and back fabric are the same. Since our climate here on the coast can be harsh on our window treatments, you should always have your treatments lined. This also achieves light control and privacy.

Top treatments are Valances, Swags, Wooden Cornices and Upholstered Cornices. Valances can be fabricated as; Board and pole mounted, or as a rod pocket. There are endless possibilities when it comes to window treatments.

Let your personality and spirit reflect your style. If you are not sure how to classify your style, thumb through some design magazines. They are great visual aids. Make a mental note on styles that appeal to you, once you determine what you like and dislike it will be much easier for you to make a decision.

A designer or decorator can help you determine the right application, for your space. Once it is determined what treatment would be the best choice for the window, they will help you choose colors, fabrics, trims etc. Hard Treatments are fairly easy to decide on since they are usually made of wood or wood composite. Soft treatments and Top treatments require a lot of thought; custom design, fabric choices, trim choices and so much more. The great thing about custom treatments is that you are the only one to own a specific treatment and they are not store bought. They were designed and fabricated to your likes for your space, therefore your and your designers individuality can show off. You have total control over the way your treatments are going to look. Your designer will guide you through this process assuring that functionality and beauty are found in the final product. A window treatment can transform the look of your space completely, it can warm a space up to make it comfortable, or turn a space into a formal setting.

Custom work allows you to coordinate all through out your home. Now you have options; may it be throw pillows, custom made bedding, a custom sofa or dining room chairs; it will all flow through out your space because you choose to go custom.

Last but not least custom fabricated window treatments are not only a huge asset for ambiance; they are also a huge financial asset for resale. Well, are you ready to go custom and let your individuality shine? Just call me or email me and I will guide you and get you on the way to custom ownership and design fun like you always dreamed off.
